unlimited. plus ann romney on leno last night telling jay about the thriftiness of her super rich husband. that clip later in the show. first let's get to the news live at 5:30 a.m. here at 30 rock in new york city. and we begin on the campaign trail where exactly one week out now from the first presidential debate. and there is brand new polling this morning from three key swing states that will raise major concerns inside the romney campaign. of likely voters, president obama now leads mitt romney by 10 percentage points in the state of ohio. that's a double digit lead in the state no republican has lost and then won the presidency. the president up nine points in florida. that is absolutely a must win state for romney. mr. obama now opening up a 12 point lead in pennsylvania according to this poll. that's a state, though, republicans have all but written off. those numbers echo polling from the "washington post" which gave the president an eight point advantage in ohio but put him up only four points in the state of florida. ohio in particular shaping up as a critical battlegro

nbc and "wall street journal" that show a tight race between the president and mitt romney. and we're looking through the eyes of the "saturday night live" crew. a special campaign edition later on in the show. first, let us get to the news live here at 5:30 a.m. at 30 rock in the center of new york city. we do begin with new developments out of libya. the a.p. reporting the u.s. state department is pulling more staffers out of its embassy in the capital of tripoli over security fears. the move is expected to be temporary until the security situation improves. the embassy was already operating with limited staff following the deadly attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi that left four americans dead. it is now been 17 days since that attack. sources say fbi agents sent to investigate the murders still have not been able to visit the actual scene of the crime due to security concerns. secretary of defense leon panetta yesterday said there was no doubt terrorists were responsible. >> as we determined the details of what took place there and how that attack took place that it became c

obama campaign released a statement last night, calling the video a, quote, transparent attempt to change the subject ahead of the debate. the romney campaign distanced itself from the video saying it had no involvement with the release. paul ryan speaking about a moral tipping point in united states, six months before romney's 47% remark. >> before too long we could become a society we were never, ever intended to be. we could become a society where the net majority of americans are takers, not makers. today 70% of americans get more benefit from the federal government in dollar value than they pay back in taxes. you could argue that we're already past that tipping point. the good news is, survey after survey, poll after poll, still shows that we are a center right 70/0 country. 70% of americans want the american dream. they believe the american idea. only 30%en watt their welfare state. what that tells us is at least half of those people currently in that category are there not of their wish or their will. >> ryan's comment were part of the keynote address at a gala dinner hosted
